Review: The Dark by Marianne Curley - Book #2 "The Guardians of Time"- Nov 2010

As The Named finishes off with the death of Marduke , a traitor among the Guards . The Dark picks up with Lathenia mourning the loss of her faithful companion Marduke. Desperate for vengenance , she decides to cast it at the one whom caused all the problems Arkarian . For Ethan and Isabel , their relationship has hit the base of friendship only as they both continue to train -Ethan as the trainer and Isabel as the Apprentice. The Dark allows way for new characters to evolve including Matt - Isabel's brother whom is The Chosen one , Dillon - Matt and Ethan's kind-of friend who turns out to be evil and Marduke's secret daughter. When Arkarian ends up kidnapped , it is up to Ethan and Isabel along with Matt to fight evil and help save him before it's too late and the Arkarian we know today will have never existed. As in the previous novel, there is plenty of swashbuckling action with lively, believable characters who wrestle with their consciences as they face tough decisions about friendship, loyalty, and commitment. Matt's struggle to adjust to the difficult life of a Guardian makes for an intriguing subplot. The story stands well on its own, but readers familiar with the first book will appreciate this imaginative, suspenseful novel even more. Look out for the twist when Isabel and Arkarian's true feelings for one another are revealed , will Isabel sacrifice more than her heart for Arkarian or is this the end for Isabel ?

Readers, Don't fall asleep and drift to another world as I read and review Book #3 - The Key.
