Review : Play Dead - Harlan Coben -2010

When I first received this book, I was like YAY a new one as I am one of those dedicated Harlan Coben fans and have read all his books. Imagine my surprise when I read the Introduction. The book Play Dead is actually the first book he wrote those many years ago. This all made sense as I read the book and the settings were 1960's to 1980's. Now many authors when you read their first book ever written , you notice parts of it and think that in overall terms it is not their best piece ever written. In this case though, Harlan Coben obviously had the gift of writing amazing mysteries even back then.
Play Dead is the story of Laura Ayers and her fiance David Baskin , on their honeymoon he disappears and is assumed dead and gone. What follows is the story weaving back to the 1960's between David's family and Laura's and how though none of them realised were more connected than their recent marriage of husband and wife.
Laura is not convinced he is dead so she goes on a mission to unfold what really happened to him , as she starts to fill in the pieces , she uncovers a dark secret that both families have been trying to hide for the past thirty years.
