Keeping Secrets......"Contemporary Novel #2"

Secrets: You Tell Me Yours and I'll Tell You Mine Maybe
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to write down only what was true ? What it would be like to keep a secret. I've been watching the TV Show "Pretty Little Liars" lately and have decided to re-read the books and today's book review kept within the theme of Secrets.
Today's author is a school pyschologist by trade and has had over 25 years experience. She is also known worldwide as the "Positive Pyschologist" and has created "The Enchanted Self" which is a systematic way of helping to bring more joy, meaning and purpose into our lives.
She has also written a series of Children's books called "The Truth Series".

Review : Secrets- You Tell me yours and I'll tell you mine ..... Maybe - Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein -2010

Following on from the first book , the main character only known as "The Girl" has moved to a new town , which for those of us who have moved lots like myself , know that this means finding new friends and starting a new school and it can be quite difficult. As "The Girl" starts her new school , she meets a new group of friends and they hold slumber parties , hang out and of course gossip like girls do. The book is written in a diary format and chronicles her year and this year is important for "The Girl" as she starts to develop into a young woman with crushes and womanly developments. If all this wasn't enough for "The Girl" to handle , her mother is having a new baby . At first "the girl" writes how much she hates the baby and then later changes her mind. A part I really enjoyed is that at the end of each diary entry after she has shared her secrets and feelings - she always adds "And that's the truth" this relates back to the main theme of the series "Truthfulness". A fun story that all teenage girls aged 12-16 will be able to relate too and be like "I went through that or that happened to me". Any older , they may enjoy it but the level of language may be too primary for them and vice versa for the younger girls aged 9-11 - in parts it may be a little over their heads.

  1. I think the YA book about secrets would really be a good book to read.
