Divine Fire - Melanie Jackson

Day 5 of October and the Halloween Monthly Challenge , Today's Book is what can only be described as a Literary Supernatural

                                                                     Divine Fire

Review : Divine Fire - Melanie Jackson - 2005

Divine Fire has taken one of Britain's most famous writers and written a supernatural about him , in fact this is not the first time that this particular writer has featured in a Supernatural novel . In fact , in Jane Bites Back - this particular person played the Vampire Master whom had turned Jane Austen and the Bronte Sisters into Vampires.
Who Am I talking about you may ask ? It is none other than Lord Byron.
As Lady Caroline once described Lord Byron as someone who was Mad, Bad and Dangerous , did not realise how true her words would eventually end up ringing as desperate to cure his epilepsy , he was mad scientist enough to try an experimental treatment which not only cured his disease but left him with another side effect , one that could not be changed or turned back - the gift or curse depending which way you look at it of immortal life.
Now living in the 21st Century as Damien Ruthven , a literary critic and a famous one of that . On his desk lands a 3 volume chronicling the Life of Lord Byron. Intrigued by the amount of research etc that the author has gone too and a woman no less , Damien must meet the author behind the book Brice Ashton.
As the story progresses the two start to fall in love , but soon both their lives are in danger as Lord Byron's past comes back to haunt them both.
Borrowing from the lore behind Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Jackson pens a sumptuous modern Gothic in which the monsters are real and creates an equally delectable portrait of Byron. Fans of solid love stories like those of Laurell K. Hamilton will enjoy Jackson's tale, which readers will devour in one sitting, then wait hungrily for the next installment.
This is one story that all fans of the great Literary Classics even if they do not normally read books that fall into the realm of the Supernatural , should add to their must-read lists.
One of my favourite things about Divine Fire , was that at the beginning of each chapter Melanie has provided us and throughout the story - quotes, letters, excerpts and poems written by or about Lord Byron himself.
