Review: One Wicked Sin - The Scandalous Women of Ton Book #2 - Nicola Cornick - October 2010

As we read with her book "Mistress by Midnight " which was Book #3 in the Trilogy, seems to me I am reading this series back to front, which I do seem to have a knack of doing if readers remember my previous series reviews. Author Nicola Cornick likes to include with her books - a true historical event as some backing , in One Wicked Sin , the historical event is the Trafalgar Battle and the Napoleniac prisoners of war that were put on Parole.
One Wicked Sin takes us firstly to the year 1786 when main character Lottie Palliser was six years old, the age she was when her father left her and she stopped trusting in men , the novel then jumps to the year 1813 when Lottie is now thirty-three , divorced and disowned and living in a brothel. Charlotte was married to Gregory Cummings and lived a scandalous life of reckless fun and sex , upon her husband catching her with his best friend -he divorced her and she had nowhere to turn but Mrs. Tong's brothel. When the Duke of Farne's son Ethan arrives looking for a Mistress , she is number #1 on his list and so he scoops her away from the Brothel and brings her to his world as his mistress. We see the two get off to a rocky start , each with serious distrust issues about each other. When his antics in the war make him a prisoner , he has come back to create a scandalous and spectaculor diverson with Lottie as his mistress. With Lottie as his cover story and beard , he then can spend more time planning his revenge plot.  However as we all know what happens in these stories, we start to see tensions and passion arise and flare between the two but when Lottie discovers why Ethan really needed a mistress , will she destroy his plan and when everything boils down to it, will Ethan discover that he has finally met his soulmate ?

Review: Steel Princess - Book #2 Royal Elite Series - Rina Kent - December 2019 At the end of Book #1, we were left on a cliffhanger of Elsa being pushed into the pool. At the beginning of book #2, she is saved by a newcomer to the school - Knox.  We can see some friendly flirting but nothing more going on between these two, but it riles up Aiden who still has this mindset of "if I can't have her, no-one can" especially since he is supposed to be engaged to Silver Queens.
