Review: Won't Last Long - Heidi Joy Tretheway - July 2013

Love and Family can be a funny thing as no matter what happens you can try and choose both but it doesn't always work out that way. Won't Last Long by Heidi Joy Tretheway introduces us to Josh and Melina. Josh has shifted around all his life and is the only one in his family actually making something out of himself, after breaking up with his longtime girlfriend Josh finally wants to be himself and create a life for himself. So he rents his own apartment and gets a dog and soon a girlfriend follows. Melina has never experienced true love and is on her way up in the world of advertising and comes from a family where whatever she does is never good enough. Melina has a list of rules when dating and has never broken them until now - when she meets Josh. The pair of them despite comments on both sides saying that they "won't last long" and family obstacles, the pair proves everyone wrong and eventually they get married. This was a sad part in the book as it showed that none of them really had anyone but themselves, however after their marriage - things start to go from little to rocky arguments and fast as lies are uncovered and tragedies strike and accidents occur. Is this pair doomed and their relationship built not too last or will Josh and Melina show everyone that no matter what others out there say , that their love is not jinxed and will last the distance. Readers , compared to other books in this type of genre, Won't Last Long is a long and lenghty read but it is worth it to keep persevering as I couldn't put it down even though at times the length was daunting and I wanted to.
