Review: The Art of Lainey - Paula Stokes - May 2014

Lainey had everything going for her and her life was perfect or so it seemed, that is until this summer , the summer before her senior year she is dumped by her boyfriend Jason. Armed with the book "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu and her best friend Bianca, they will use the book's skills and tactics to win Jason back. The other part in her plan is to fake-date a guy, someone who wants to win someone else back as well. Lainey chooses Micah - the mohawk guy from her father's shop, someone she possibly has nothing in common with . Let the fake-dating begin ...... and then we all know or can guess what will happen next as the more time Lainey and Micah spend together. What happens though when the plan works and Jason wants Lainey back ? Will she go back to him and leave Micah in the dust or will she discover that Micah is the one she should be with ? This was also a good read in which the character not only used The Art of War which helped the reader on an educational level, but it does show the importance of discovering who you really are and that it can be very easy to lose yourself and get caught up in what others perceive you to be or do and we can never judge a person/book etc by it's appearance.
