Review: Get Even - Gretchen McNeil

Review: Get Even - Book #1 DGM Series - Gretchen McNeil - September 2014

When I read the tagline for this book , I was intrigued as it read "The Breakfast Club meets Pretty Little Liars". Two of my favourite things and they were correct as this novel introduces us to four girls who if were put together are unlikely friends and would never get on as we have Olivia - the drama geek , Kitty - the jock , Margot - the techie and Bree - the outsider/loner. These girls have one thing in common though, they have all been victims of bullying and have decided to band together and form a secret society group called "DGM" which stands for "Don't Get Mad" - Get Even.  Their task is to get revenge on those who have been bullying the underdogs of the school but it seems that their group has received some unwanted attention as the principal of their private school is determined to find the culprits behind the group and get them shut down.  When their latest target turns up dead, the spotlight is thrown upon the DGM team and soon they start recieving threats, photos and relics from their pasts - all that contain dark and dirty secrets that if revealed or fall into the wrong hands could leave them exposed and have their dirty laundry aired. This is the part that reminded me of Pretty Little Liars as it seems that the girls have their own anonymous "A" and if they aren't careful and find out who it is , they may have a bigger problem as more dead bodies turn up and they are threatened to be exposed as the faces behind DGM. Can they solve it or will it take all their might not to crumble when it comes to the witching hour ?
The only thing that left me gasping is this book ends on a cliffhanger and now I have to wait till 2015 to read book #2 :(.
