Review: Between the Devil and the Blue Sea - April Genevieve Tucholke

Growing up Violet and Luke's grandmother Freddie used to warn them about the Devil and letting him into your hearts and houses. The pair of them just thought it was nonsense and Freddie's stories but they are about to discover that the Devil's really do exist and that they are connected to Violet's family.  With money running out and it doesn't look like Violet and Luke's parents are returning back anytime soon, Violet decides to rent out the guest house to newcomer River West.  River is stunning and handsome and soon Violet falls for River, but it seems that River has a dark secret. You see he has magical powers known as "The Glow" which run in his family and they can make people believe that they have seen ghosts or what they fear most and right now it seems that their is a Devil running riot in their smalltown of Echo. Is this connected to River and how ? Also in the story, we discover a bit about Violet's family history, the skeletons that have been stored away in the attic are about to come pouring out but is it always best to know the truth or is the truth sometimes best hidden and never discovered to save hurting and disrupting those around you as some secrets are meant to stay buried.
This was quite a fast-paced novel and one that I actually found myself enjoying far more than I thought I would and I am now looking forward to reading Book #2.
