Review: A Breath of Eyre - Eve Marie Mont

Review: A Breath of Eyre - Book #1 Unbound Series - Eve Marie Mont - March 2012

Have you ever had a book that you have been eyeing up for a couple of years and you keep meaning to read it, but something comes up every-time and then one day you decide I am going to read "that book". For me that was "A Breath of Eyre". As readers of my reviews will know I am a big fan of renditions, the other thing though that I love and is one of my all-time favourite Classic tale is Jane Eyre. In this book we meet Emma , who after her mother died went to live with her father and aunt Barbara. Emma then was shipped off to a prestigious boarding school as a scholarship student , along with one of her prized possessions - a first edition of Jane Eyre which was her mother's favourite book. This book shows readers that Emma seems to be the type of girl with a death wish as she is always seemingly ending up in a hospital bed. The thing is though, that prior to waking up in a hospital bed - Emma finds herself transported into her own living and breathing copy of Jane Eyre where she is Jane and is working for Mr. Rochester. Unlike most copies of Jane Eyre renditions, what I loved about this book was that it tends to focus a lot more on the character of Bertha rather than the romance between Jane and Mr. Rochester. In A Breath of Eyre,  Emma starts to notice similarities between Bertha and her mum before she died. When she does return back to reality - will Emma be able to live as Emma or will her heart still be with Jane ? Also of course, what's a book without a little romance as we see Emma's heart flicker between three guys - Owen , Gray and Mr. Gallagher ? Which guy will become Emma's version of Mr. Rochester or will she settle for something more important than a Mr. Rochester ?
Find out in this awesome novel and for those who are interested in finding out which literary character you are like, there is a quiz at the back of the book in which you total up the highest result of letters. For me , I got 5 each for A and B - so I am a mixture between Jane Eyre and Elizabeth Bennett and then on Eve's site you can do a quiz to find out who your literary soulmate is and I received Mr. Darcy :)
