Review: The Truth About Alice - Jennifer Mathieu

Review: The Truth About Alice - Jennifer Mathieu- June 2014

Imagine being popular one day and then the next because of one tiny rumour , you end up being the social outcast and your whole life is reduced to nothingness. Alice was one of those girls who was beautiful , but didn't sleep around like everyone thought she did. Though at a party, a rumour starts that Alice slept with not one but two guys at a party within an hour of each other, so begins the "Alice is a Slut" rumour. The rumour would have passed but the very same night , Brandon - one of the guys died and apparently Alice is the cause of his death. Told from four different POV's are events leading up to that fateful night , what happened that night and the aftermath. It is also shows readers how one little rumour can easily destroy another person's life. The Truth About Alice reminded me of the book "The S Word" by Chelsea Pitcher and it really does go to show that the only person's account you can really count on is the one with nothing to lose and everything to lose at the same time.
This was a quick teen read and also reminded me of one of my favourite books by Jennifer Brown - The Hate List.
If you are looking for an Edgy Read to finish your 2014 year off with, then what are you waiting for as you won't find an edgier teen novel than "The Truth About Alice" by Jennifer Mathieu.
