Review: Black Ice - Becca Fitzpatrick - October 2014

The author of the popular Angel series "Hush,Hush" is back with a new standalone novel "Black Ice" and if you love mystery and suspense novels, then this is the book for you. I was a tad worried at first on whether I would enjoy it or not and I actually found myself loving this book and could not put it down at all. Black Ice starts with best friends Korbie and Brit who are headed for Spring Break up to the mountains to Korbie's parents cabin along with Korbie's boyfriend Bear and brother Calvin. While stopping for gas to get Calvin off her back, Brit fakes a boyfriend - Mason and he plays along and they go their separate ways , hoping never to see each other again. Fast forward their trip up the mountain and Brit's car breaks down , so her and Korbie head to the nearest cabin for heat and a comfort stop but what they find will be the start of a hope for survival as they stumble across Sean and Mason and Sean is a tad creepy and scary and Mason isn't the same guy she met at the Petrol station earlier on. Over the next few days, Korbie and Brit will have to learn to survive and keep in line in order to live as they are alone with killers. The story connects to previous murders of females that happened in these same woods and we discover that Mason has a connection to one of these murders. Can Brit trust Mason in order to survive or is he still playing a game with her ? Black Ice had a major twist near the end when the killer was revealed and OMFG I definitely did not see that coming and I loved how the author ended the book with one year later, was a nice conclusion to the story.
