Review: Don't Look Back - Jennifer L. Armentrout

Review: Don't Look Back - Jennifer L. Armentrout - April 2014

Lately the library has been getting in some good mystery books and Jennifer L. Armentrout's book "Don't Look Back" was amazing and one of those "I am glad I found this type book". The story starts with Samantha Falcon, wandering down the road when she is found by a passing police car. She is covered in dirt, scrapes, blood and bruises. She also cannot remember her name and has amnesia. We learn that it has been four days since she went missing along with her best friend Cassie. Over the next week Samantha will discover that she wasn't the greatest person around and will have to learn everything again as the amnesia means she can't recall anything of the person she had become. Turns out though that maybe the amnesia was a blessing in disguise as Sam was horrible and the Queen B around the school and the B doesn't stand for the buzzy kind of animal but the female dog sort. Over the course of the novel, Sam will start to hallucinate and catch glimpses of the events leading up to her and Cassie's disappearance but what will happen when she starts to recieve notes and someone out there doesn't want her discovering the truth. In a way this book had a Pretty Little Liars feel to the story and even includes a lot of friendship and family dramas.  The book was quite fast-paced and kept the readers interest and the twist on the ending was amazing, I did not see the killer being whom he/she was revealed as - it definitely surprised me as I was convinced throughout that I had fair ideas who it could have been.
If you are wanting a fast-paced teenage mystery/crime novel , then check out Jennifer L. Armentrout's "Don't Look Back" , as this is one book that once you start reading it - you won't be wanting to look back , just forward as you flip the pages one by one till the very end.
