VBT# Under the Influence - L.B Simmons
First off Under the Influence was another amazing book by L.b Simmons. In Under the Influence we meet Dalton and Spencer, who first met when he was 12 years old and she was 8 years old. He had just been kicked out of another foster care home and sent to live with Spencer and her mum in Emergency care. As they grew older, their lives changed drastically but no matter what the pair of them still stayed friends as Dalton lived a secret life where he owed his life to Silas Kincaid - a mobster who has Dalton doing all his dirty work for him as an enforcer. This book shows the pair of them growing close and Dalton finding it difficult to keep Spencer hidden and safe from his other world. As the book goes along, we read as Dalton's two lives start to collide especially when one of the girls from the Emergency Foster Care - Penny that he bonded with turns out to be the daughter of one of the guys who had charges laid against Dalton. When Dalton is offered an out of this life , it means that he must immediately cut off all communication with those important to him - meaning Spencer. Can he do that as he leaves the night of her 18th Birthday. The second half of this book is mainly emails and diary entries between Dalton and Spencer over the next few years until Spencer's heart hardens and she realises that the man she loved is never coming back . Five years later, Cassie and Spencer are attending a Krav Maga and Spencer meets Liam and connects immediately with him - there is something though about him , she can't put her finger on as she starts to fall deeper in love with him. How will Spencer react when she discovers the truth about Liam's past and also what will happen when Dalton turns up five years later ?
