VBT# Clutch - Lisa Becker

Clutch: A Novel

Review: Clutch - Lisa Becker - October 2015

Often in life , we have that one person or thing that will inspire us to believe that we can do whatever we want no matter what happens . For Southerner Caroline Johnson, it was her Aunt when she first gave Caroline her first ever handbag. This inspired Caroline to become one of the world's best handbag designers , over the years we watch as Caroline works her way up to getting into Harvard Business School where she meets Mike. Though Mike is wealthy , he dreams of stepping away from the family mould and opening up/ running his own bar in LA. Mike and Caroline become best buddies and they always vow never to sleep together as it will ruin their friendship, but one night as always happens in college - the two sleep together and wham bam, it's over and they don't discuss it but remain good friends as the pair move to LA together and do their thing. Years later, Caroline and Mike are still the best of buddies but they are both single and dating various people. For Mike, he seems to sleep with everyone in this book and doesn't seem like the settling down type . Caroline is starting to do the female thing and worry whether she will be alone for the rest of her life and never have someone to love, and start a family with. Clutch follows her disastrous dating life where she classifies the men as handbags depending on their personalities. Can Caroline find a Mr Right - the perfect handbag or is he standing right in front of her and she never realised  -since she had always been looking for the pretty, shiny and sparkly "impulsive" pick me bags ?
A Love Story perfect for those women in love with Bags and have more Handbags than Shoes in their closets.
Clutch by Lisa Becker is the perfect chicklit read for Women aged 30-40+
